Terminatus Accomplished - Throne List Victorious - General Oadius Best Overall
It's true.... from a prestigious field of 56, including: Darth Vader himself(Casey McNamara[grats new pappa!]), Ben Vaughn(Da Vinci..the renaissance reincarnated), Darth Maul(Ryan Thalen), Mad John(THE ork of California), Santa and lots more worthy generals, General Oadius(me) came out with a 1st place OVERALL. I've never managed to place 1st at the Contest of Champions and it's a very sweet victory, I must admit. It pleases my vanity to think that you all might want to know what list I played so here goes...
Throne List - General Oadius' Grey Knights @ 1750 points, CoC comp format
Inquisitor Karamov
Inquisitor Coteaz
5 x Paladins
1 MC Halberd
1 MC psycannon
1 psycannon
1 MC daemon Hammer
1 warding Stave
10 x Grey Knight
3 x Halberd
3 x Sword
2 x psycannon
1 x hammer
1 x justicar
rhino
10 x Grey Knight
3 x Halberd
3 x Sword
2 x psycannon
1 x hammer
1 x justicar
rhino
11 x Henchmen
2 x Assassin
2 x Crusader
6 x Henchmen
1 x Melta
Chimera
6 x Henchmen
1 x Assassin
1 x Crusader
3 x Henchmen
1 x Flamer
Razorback w/psybolt ammo
Dreadnought
2 x TL Autocannon
Psybolt ammo
Dreadnought
2 x TL Autocannon
Psybolt ammo
So that's that.... Basically Karamov held the middle with the Pallys(foot slogging). Karamov chooses to pass or fail and is T5 with 4 wounds. He is relentless with a MC Multi-Melta and a MC Power Sword at S5. He allows rerolls for all friendly units within 12" on all morale and pinning tests. That allows for the rhino's to flank him and stay near middle longer. His no scatter orbital bombardment is key though...he threatens far away targets, all while holding fast to the middle.
The Grey knights like to stand still inside the rhinos and fire hvy profile psycannons...also moving 12" and jumping out to torrent something with stormbolters and assault profile psycannons is very effective and usually not expected. These are the meat of the army and fulfill several different roles. They will usually take a charge as bait for those that would venture too close to the paladins.
Coteaz jumps into the Chimera with the mean henchmen unit to run into any fast attack and flankers. He also provides a powerful counter attack tool.
The Razorback is usually reserved and wants to run in around turn 4 or 5 to grab a defensive objective or is placed at the start of the turn to contest an enemy objective in the backfield. The flamer and assassin can do some damage.
The Dreads blow up tanks and make Obliterators take double toughness saves... they can also tar pit no grenade units who would dare to get too close to my objectives..they are usually quite close by.
There in lies the insight into my list that I will allow knowledge of....
Game 1 vs Nids
great game super close...my opponent papered the board like a champ. A little luck and persistent attack on his objective contested his and a persistent defense(and some luck) protected mine. 1 objective to 0 General Oadius scores 17
Game 2 vs Eldar
Wraithguard, Warlock and a Farseer held the middle for nearly 4 turns until paladins finished them off. Dreads took out all the Vypers, War Walkers and Wave Serpents. Nearly tabled him.. General Oadius scores 20
Game 3 vs Space Wolves
Classic Rhino list with a Rune priest and long fangs. Paladins held middle with great shooting and a turn 5 tank shock almost turned game into a tie. A lot of fun to play this general(Mr. Andrew B.). Game went to 6 and I got lucky and cleaned up the mess in the middle. General Andrew holds 1 objective and I held 2. General Oadius scores 17

Victory!! Team Wolfbrothers 3-0 for BEST OVERALL / TWIN LINKED CHAMPIONS!
That's right...ShotDownMind and General Oadius did it again. The gods of war have rewarded our persistence and dedication to the pursuit of victory with yet another fruit from the tree of battle. Hard fought victories make the spoils that much sweeter and this was no seal clubbing. In fact we were forced to face off against MadJohn and Santa our respected peers and forum mates for 1st place. The dice and fate would play as big a part as any superior list or strategem we may have used against the OrkyKnights but victory came none the less.
Our lists:
reclusiarch with death company in a rhino
2 razorback assault marine squads
las/auto cannon predator
Baal Predator with twin linked assault cannon and heavy bolter sponsons
2 haemonculous each with a webway portal
2 x 15 wyches with the fixins
8 wracks in a raider with Nightshield, flickerfield and grisly trophies
a razorwing fighter
GAME 1
Team Wolfbrothers vs Interstallar Blitzkrieg(Grey knights and Blood Angels)
enemy list(approximately):
Mephiston
Furioso Libby Dread with Drop Pod
Death Company Blood Talon Dreadnought with Drop Pod
Death company in a drop pod
something else.. can't remember [a fast vindicator]
Coteaz
8 Death Cult Assassins in a Chimera
Jokaero and Servitors in a Chimera
Grey Knight Interceptors(full squad)
A DreadKnight
Summary:
We went first and deployed the Wrack and Haemons in raider with a Predator, the rest were coming in from reserve and the Baal was outflanking. They deployed Mephiston and Coteaz. Interstellar Blitzkrieg didnt' want to seize so Shotdownmind deployed a Webway portal near middle left.
Drop pods with the 2 dreadnoughts came down around the raider with the DC dread coming in near our short table edge. We had DC rhino and razorback come in from reserves and I think one of the wyches. Ended up that the Wyches killed the DC dreadnought in CC with haywire grenades and I ended up assaulting the DC with DC and killing them while my tanks shot at Mephiston and the Libby dread. The other webway was put down farther forward on the other side and that pretty much sealed up their doom.
We had 2 objectives within walking distance of our short table edge and theirs were much farther in. They had expended a majority of their mobility with the drop pods that were, except Mephiston's presence, unsupported. Mephiston and Libby did kill my DC but left themselves open to the hail of fire that exacted revenge nicely.
By the end of the game the wracks had made it all the way across the board to kill Coteaz and the Wyches contested the enemy objective, captured the middle(with both squads) while the assault marines sat on our objectives for a tally of 5-0(center objective was worth 3). Wolfbrothers score 20/20 points for round 1.
Enemy lists(approximately):
2x10 man Grey Knight squads
Grey Knight Interceptors(full squad)
Psyfleman
Xenos Inquisitor
Vindicare Assassin
Vendetta
3x Vet Teams in Chimera(1 plasma unit and 2 melta)
Flak Battery Squadron(2 units)
Company Commander
GAME Summary
A notable player either tries to insult our intelligence or acted in a manner that was completely inappropriate..General Oadius rolled a 1 for red thirst and all hell broke loose. A compromise was reached and the battle restarted. After that they seized and started to blow our shit up.
Long story short..wyches did the heavy lifting and we won with Assault Marines and Wracks holding a table quarter and the wyches contesting the others.
Bay Area Open GT measuring tool for the win.Wolfbrothers scored like 17 of 20 points.
GAME 3 Wolfbrothers vs OrkyKnights
We were both relieved to get a game that we didn't care if we won or lost because we wanted to hang with the people that we were pitted against us.
Madjohn and Scott(santa) have been a force to be reckoned with at the Twin Linked tournies but we knew win or lose we'd have fun with good people. I won't even get into trying to explain this game to you but sufficed to say that we got first turn(which was huge) and ended up only very slightly ahead at the end. Wolfbrothers win 18 of 20 points.
TOURNAMENT SUMMARY
Super fun and an amazing way to cap out the 2011 tournaments. Mark at Great Escape Games has run these tournaments well enough to attract 20(!!!)TEAMS for a December tournament on Sunday. That says something in itself but the scenarios were fun and very challenging, the terrain was ample/consistent and the prizes were insane. This was a "cherry on top" tournament for Great Escape Games in my opinion. Wolfbrothers can't get enough....
Check out the blog for pics of the made to order dice bags that Great Escape and Mark are hooking up as trophies for the tournament.
UNTIL NEXT TIME....PLAY WELL, ROLL BETTER!!!

Inquisitor Karamov Painted!
In the spirit of all the effort put forth by Shotdownmind and Ultraraider to build a sensational Grey Knight Army, I decided to paint a model all by myself. Yes, I know it's crazy but I did it anyways.
The fact is when I saw this Finecast model, I just had to have it. Karamov has some super neat fluff and can be a bastard in actual game play too(orb bomb, MC PW, MC MM, relentless, chooses to pass/fail moral/pinning and gives units within 12" a reroll).
TILL NEXT TIME....PLAY WELL, ROLL BETTER!!!

This is the list that I am building for Shotdownmind to airbrush and paint on commission. We have decided on a SUPER liberal application of Object Source Lighting(from the force weapons, helmeted eyes, psybolt ammunition) and battle damage on the legs using a weathering technique picked up recently. I'll possibly do some hand brushing if necessary but the majority of the work will be done with the airbrush, by Shotdownmind.
If you don't know already, SDM is one of the best painters on the west coast(save a few CRAZY-gifted fuckers like Ultraraider and our own revered Wolfbrothers Brian and Caleb)and he has won Best Painted, Best Appearance and Player's Choice at several different tournaments with several different armies, so using his god given talents was a no brainer. Plus as I previously mentioned in a You Tube comment...SDM warps time in his own personal space and reality and in so doing FINISHES projects like some people start them. The boy has mad multi-tasking skills, what else can I say?!...
So this is our new joint project and I'm sure Shotdown will do some bad ass updates but, UNTIL NEXT TIME.....PLAY WELL, ROLL BETTER!!!!
P.B.
(Post Blog)
Look for our two prototype Paladin/Terminators that are nearly fully painted, mixed in with the IG army he just finished(look in the previous posts).

State of the Chapter / General Oadius' evaluation and appraisal of the current stable of Wolfbrother generals.
As the Reclusiarch of the Wolfbrothers Chapter, I am bound to deliver my evaluation and appraisal of each and all generals. I am also entitled to voice my opinion of the current state of the Wolfbrothers Chapter.
I have decided to rate each general numerically on a scale of 1-10, 10 being the highest. Categories of evaluation include: List Building, Deployment, Shooting, Close Combat, Shenanigans, Intimidation and Rolling. The total of these numbers should signify each general's rank amongst the chapter.
If you are a Wolfbrother chapter general and I hurt your feelings with this evaluation, then too fucking bad, play me and get better.
1st Place
ShotDownMind - Wolfbrothers Chapter Master
List Bldg/Deployment/Shoot/Close Combat/Shenanigans/Intimidation/Rolling/ TOTAL
9 9 9 8 8 7 9 - 59
In a word...lethal. SDM plays competitively and has several 1st place and best overall finishes. Recently he placed 1st in Ard Boyz Qualifiers, 1st in the Twin Linked Tournament(Great Escape Games) and is in the top 5 at the prestigious Contest of Champions(Great Escape Games) for the 2011 season.
2nd Place
General Oadius - Wolfbrother Reclusiarch
List Bldg/Deployment/Shoot/Close Combat/Shenanigans/Intimidation/Rolling/ TOTAL
9 8 8 9 8 9 7 - 58
In a word....Furious. General Oadius plays "in your face" with CC oriented lists that reroll everything. Recently placing 5th amongst 75 competitors at the Bay Area Open, 2nd at Ard Boyz Qualifiers, 1st in the Twin Linked tournament(Great Escape Games) gives General Oadius a wealth of superfluous confidence that can astound even the highest strung person.
3rd Place
Andrew - Wolfbrothers Master of Librarians
List Bldg/Deployment/Shoot/Close Combat/Shenanigans/Intimidation/Rolling/ TOTAL
9 9 9 7 7 5 7 - 53
In a word....Deliberate. General Andrew can easily be wrote off in appearance and demeanor, but underestimating this general can end your day badly. Andrew writes rock solid lists that punish the enemy for any mistake they may make(Sun Tzu would be proud). Andrew has competed at the Ard Boyz Finals and is a fierce tournament player.
4th Place
General Bass - Wolfbrothers Chapter Champion
List Bldg/Deployment/Shoot/Close Combat/Shenanigans/Intimidation/Rolling/ TOTAL
7 7 7 8 7 9 7 - 52
In a word....Brutal. General Bass will come straight at you with everything he's got, no holding back. Physically intimidating and stubborn as hell, beating Bass is as rare as it is difficult. With several best general awards and a 6th place finish amongst 75 competitors at the Bay Area Open GT, General Bass is amongst the hottest of our competitive generals.
5th Place
General Jake R - Wolfbrothers Master of the Forge
List Bldg/Deployment/Shoot/Close Combat/Shenanigans/Intimidation/Rolling/ TOTAL
8 7 7 7 9 5 8 - 51
In a word....Brilliant. General Jake will out think you, end of story. Jake plays more armies than anyone and plays them all well. General Jake R. has a wealth of experience in tournaments and recently placed 3rd in the Ard Boyz qualifiers.
6th Place
Ian - Wolfbrothers Master of Scouts
List Bldg/Deployment/Shoot/Close Combat/Shenanigans/Intimidation/Rolling/ TOTAL
7 7 7 7 6 6 8 - 48
In a word....Dynamic. General Ian plays a wide variety of armies and a wide variety of fighting styles, he knows the deal and games the mission. Don't take anything for granted with Ian or he will make you pay for it. General Ian is at every tournament he can make it to and was recently the army to beat at the latest Wolfbrother's tournament.
Tied for 6th Place
General Charles "Makooma" - Wolfbrother's Warden
List Bldg/Deployment/Shoot/Close Combat/Shenanigans/Intimidation/Rolling/ TOTAL
8 8 7 6 7 6 6 - 48
In a word....Focused. Makooma has a plan from turn 1 and knows what to do to make it happen. Comp is not his favorite subject, but he builds lists with lots of hurt and surprises and intends them to win. Makooma is at the top of Tau players on the West Coast and fields a mean Tyranid army too.
7th Place
General Alex - Wolfbrother's Captain of the Honour Guard
List Bldg/Deployment/Shoot/Close Combat/Shenanigans/Intimidation/Rolling/ TOTAL
7 8 8 6 6 5 7 - 47
In a word....Solid. Alex is not going to let you win without earning it but he'll be damned if you don't have a great time winning or losing. Possibly the funnest of all our general to play against. Alex does like to compete and he does like to win, he just doesn't get too wrapped up in it all.
Tied for 7th Place
General Eric - Wolfbrother's Chaplain
List Bldg/Deployment/Shoot/Close Combat/Shenanigans/Intimidation/Rolling/ TOTAL
6 7 7 8 5 7 7 - 47
In a word....Ready. Eric is a very balanced player and could field any army with tactical efficiency. General Eric has competed in all 3, 2011 Wolfbrother Tournaments, with a strong showing each time. Now he's fielding the deadly Blood Angels and will no doubt make the Emperor's enemies pay dearly and often.
8th Place
General Ben - Wolfbrother's Chapter Banner Bearer
List Bldg/Deployment/Shoot/Close Combat/Shenanigans/Intimidation/Rolling/ TOTAL
7 8 6 6 6 8 6 - 46
In a word...Learning. Learning quickly I might add, SdM and I are observing Ben not make the same mistake twice in games against us and that is all we can ask for. Ben isn't a competitive player at the moment but his potential is unlimited.
9th Place
General Matt - Wolfbrother's 1st company terminator
List Bldg/Deployment/Shoot/Close Combat/Shenanigans/Intimidation/Rolling/ TOTAL
6 5 6 7 6 5 5 - 40
In a word....Competitive. Ultra competitive and I love him for it...he just needs to play more. Matt does like to compete at events he just doesn't like to finish them.
Tied for 9th Place
General Richard "Daywalker" - Wolfbrother's 1st company terminator
List Bldg/Deployment/Shoot/Close Combat/Shenanigans/Intimidation/Rolling/ TOTAL
6 5 6 6 5 6 6 - 40
In a word....Learning. Under the tutelage of Makooma, Daywalker will soon be a force to reckon with...especially wielding the ultra-effective space wolves. Daywalker has competed in several Twin Linked Tournaments(Great Escape Games).
10th Place
General Forrest - Wolfbrother's 2nd company sargeant
List Bldg/Deployment/Shoot/Close Combat/Shenanigans/Intimidation/Rolling/ TOTAL
5 6 6 5 5 5 7 - 39
In a word....Brave. General Forrest is not scared to take a beating in order to learn something new. Also, Forrest's lists are balanced and his deployments are valid as well. Forrest recently competed at the Wolfbrother's 3rd 2011 tournament with his Dark Eldar army.
So that is my appraisal and evaluation of each of the Wolfbrother's generals. We are blessed with a strong crop of experienced generals that are active in the tournament scene as well as being blessed with a crop of new generals that have great potential. Under the leadership of ShotDownMind we should continue to be a force to be reckoned with all over the West coast and beyond.
The state of the Chapter is excellent. A great many of our generals are actively competing and a strong dynamic exists between the chapter's leadership and it's livery of generals. Our reputation proceeds us to all over California and support from two of the greatest hobby shops in the nation(Great Escape Games and Heroes Games and Hobbies) continues to provide growth. We just held a very successful tournament at Heroes and that marked the 3rd tournament we've organized for 2011 alone.
All hail the Wolfbrothers, death to our enemies.
